  watchtower august 15th 1935 - "...the greatest of all tribulations mentioned in the scriptures must come after the great multitude appears and must be that which is mentioned by christ jesus as “tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time.” that tribulation period began with the “day of jehovah”, to wit, in 1914, when the war started against satan’s organization in heaven, and reaches the great climax at the time of the battle of armageddon, the great day of god almighty.

  110 years - and counting!.

  other denominations claim the great tribulation is only going to last for 7 years.

  Paradise

  the ot of wing commander made me think about the following.. i was born in 1970, 4th generation jw.

  in the 70's i got the indirect message of 1975, and in the early 80's we were promissed a paradise were we could life for ever!

  this all combined with the 1914 doctrine.. it was all about show activity and works, that lead to a reward, the paradise earth.. i'm curious about the jw's of later years and the current "generation z".. we don't visit the hall, maybe once in a year.

  No that hasnt changed. Their big thing is still paradise earth. Anyone who partakes at their Memorial is thought to be "mentally diseased."

  Hi again. I just want you to know that I did read what you wrote and I understand your concern about Paul's letters. However, you dont need to think that way simply because we have a very early church father, Clement of Rome (30-100 AD) who wrote extensively. He knew Paul, Luke and Peter. Paul even mentioned Clement in one of his letters, Phillipians (57 AD). Clement taught justification by faith as Paul did. Justification means righteounsess. They are the same word.

  That is not to discount good works. Works come through a person who is saved. It is not forced. As Paul taught, we walk in the works that God prepared for us.That comes after we believe God's grace. We should always care for the sick, help the poor, etc, and when given the opportunity, share the gospel. These things are not forced but a changed heart desires to help. But we are not all teachers. We have varying gifts and faith works through love..

  These false prophecies have overthrown the very faith of many people. For me, it had the opposite effect as I can now see that Jesus and His apostles spoke about and warned us about these very people. They said, stay away. The WT fulfills prophecy all right. Just not how we thought.

  Too bad I didnt know that then. Glad I do now though.

  I feel for you. I was stuck in my head too. That's the thing about this cult.. how often things were repeated and drilled into our brains via rote learning complete with their magazine visuals to further cement your brain.

  Then when it flops- it's not their fault. and shut up about it!

  I recall many many years on the back of every Awake magazine reading the signature, CREATORS PROMISE!!

  "Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away."

  Hi there. I dunno but this thread was abouta conversation with my JW sister and my JW father who died. The conversation was quite an eye opener for me as I had no idea Jws teach that our death is atoning.

  I've already told you that they are owned BY the WATCHTOWER. They have links to sites who are selling the publications. While it may be legal due to copyright laws- it is certainly NOT ok for Jws to mix with apostates or is it? I dont know what it is that you are not comprehending.
